Read My Lips: A Congressional Scorecard on Reproductive Health is an animated portrait series examining how U.S. legislators shape access to sexual and reproductive healthcare.
Each portrait represents a sitting member of Congress and incorporates key public data: political affiliation, voting record on reproductive health legislation, and a custom countdown tied to that individual’s next re-election date. A ticking tie functions as both a visual and temporal device—each portrait operates on its own clock, marking the time remaining until that official is accountable to voters. A scannable QR code links directly to their full legislative record.
Designed for circulation across social media, each animated portrait functions as a standalone, shareable unit of information—pairing portraiture with real-time urgency.
An audio layer of a child’s voice repeating “tic, tic, tic” underscores the passage of time and the generational stakes of these decisions.
By merging portraiture with data visualization and motion, the series transforms legislative records into an accessible, urgent public-facing narrative about accountability, policy, and consequence.
I'm including a few screen shots so you can see some of the portraits but there are a total of 535 Portraits in the collection.
