The Cobra
This project focused on myth and legend. I chose to portray the human side of modern legends through the mythology of sports, specifically baseball. I often use baseball as a lens with which to examine issues such as the diaspora experience, labor disputes/law, American civil rights history, and American imperialism. In this case I focused on the individual, Dave Parker. A mortal man who had a rise and fall that in hindsight reads like a modern Greek tragedy. He was posthumously inducted last year following a decades-long battle with ALS.
