Music has been a part of the human experience since the beginning of time, and some songs are so lucky to be a part of cultural lexicon that jump through time and space. This illustration is of another human experience, the need for help that comes from beyond yourself, delivered via the words of the song Kumbaya, where the Lord is asked to "come by yuh(here)." This illustration is by Dare Coulter for Kwame Alexander's Kumbaya, and is a blend of photography and sculpture, with historic sheet music that was used in the early 1900s by a choir from St. Helena island.
