Inspired by the novel, Tale of Genji or Genji Monogatari written by Murasaki Shikibu, The 4 seasons of love each represent a specific relationship or type of relationships Genji has experienced throughout his life. This particular relationship represents Fall and Genji's forbidden love for the woman Fujitsubo, doomed from the very start. Short lived & melancholic like the Fall, but it left a lasting impression in Genji for life.
