The food bank at Cardozo High School, perched proudly on a Washington, D.C. hill in the fast-gentrifying neighborhood of Columbia Heights, offers a panorama of the Howard University Founders Library, where Vice President Kamala Harris studied, the National Monument, a symbol of civilizational grandeur, and the Capitol, the locus of a country divided. The image is part of a series of postcards documenting life and history in Washington, D.C. since 2016.
