Scenes from a Telenovela
Scenes from a Telenovela. December 2018. A series that depicts my uncle’s/father’s life as a Mexican immigrant in the late 1960’s to present time by transforming moments of Los Angeles in a more theatrical light. These architectural stage propositions were constructed from first voice accounts to re-imagine how geographies are experienced by people and how their stories visually translate onto others. The featured drawing depicts my uncle’s occupation as a machine operator at a jacket workshop. His coworkers have a conversation about low wage employment and poor working conditions for immigrants in Los Angeles.
