The Insiders. August 2017. This illustration accompanied a book review of The Graybar Hotel by Curtis Dawkins, which tells fourteen fictional stories from within the Michigan prison system. Dawkins, who earned a master in fine arts in 2000 from Western Michigan University and was sentence to life without possibility of parole for murder in 2005, writes the courageous and unflinching stories in a way that is poignant, suspenseful, and at last uplifting.
