Two Riders
Two Riders. February 2017. Two females ride horseback across the picturesque trails of California, a personal piece drawing from my practice exploring human relationship with nature, a constant theme throughout art history. This piece examines what is inherently "American Art" in conjunction with contemporary illustration and specifically the desire to understand and perceive the sublime--the innately magical relationship to nature but also to the mundane. My interest lies in the metaphorical power of playful shapes and colors. Their power to express psychological and spiritual context which informs, but also undermines, challenging the viewer to grasp the subject in all of its complexities.
