Hands Up. February 2015. "Hands up, don't shoot," or simply "hands up" is a saying and gesture originating from the August 2014 shooting of Michael Brown in Ferguson, Missouri. This also revolves around the Eric Garner situation where he tragically expired under what many consider the excessive and unnecessary use of force by the NYPD.
