State of the Art: Researchers Come Up With Foolproof Method to Certify Real Photos

The C2PA software championed by Adobe to verify real photos could be hacked, according to researchers from Swiss University ETH Zurich. But, notes PetaPixel, they have proposed an alternative system: a new sensor technology that cryptographically signs images, videos, and audio signals within a sensor chip at the exact moment a piece of content is captured. ETH Zurich says this signature allows for verification that the data genuinely originates from a camera, indicates when it was captured, and ensures that it has not been tampered with.   Read the full Story >>

Photographer Don Bronstein was a discreet yet central figure in postwar American visual culture, notes the Triennale Milano, which features the exhibition “The Rhythm of the Eye: Don Bronstein and the Chicago Jazz Scene 1953–1968” (April 14 to May 17)—the first time the photographer’s work has been presented in Europe. Bronstein shot 500 album covers for the likes of Bob Dylan and Barbra Streisand before dying at age 41. Art News: The Met Hires Star Photography Curator for the Museum's New Wing

The Metropolitan Museum of Art has hired a star photography curator away from MoMA, notes Artforum: Oluremi C. Onabanjo, formerly the Museum of Modern Art’s Peter Schub Curator, will join the Met as its new curator in the Department of Photographs this summer, adds Art News. At the Met, Onabanjo will be focused on managing the Walther Collection, a 2025 gift of more than 6,500 historical and contemporary photographs and albums that spans Africa, China, Japan, Germany, Mexico, and the United States.
