Leica has announced record sales for the fourth consecutive financial year, with the highest revenue in its history along with continued profitability, notes PetaPixel. In a press release, The company said that in 2025 it saw nearly across-the-board improvements. Its optics division saw revenue increase by 7.6% from April 2024 to the end of March 2025 to around €596 million (the previous year was €554 million), largely driven by the photography segment and growth in smartphones.

A federal judge has again thrown out a lawsuit by a man who accused grunge rock band Nirvana of distributing child sexual abuse images by using a photograph of him as a naked, swimming baby on the cover of its breakthrough 1991 album “Nevermind.” US District Judge Fernando Olguin tossed out the lawsuit filed by plaintiff Spencer Elden for a second time after finding that no reasonable jury would consider the picture pornographic, notes The Guardian. Even as President Trump says he is closing in on a deal to keep TikTok operating in the US (details to be revealed later), Wired reports that OpenAI is preparing to launch a social media app “closely resembling” TikTok—except that it’s for AI-generated content. Users won’t be able to upload their own photos or videos from their own camera roll — instead, adds Mashable, they’ll have to use OpenAI’s Sora 2 AI video generator to create clips that are 10 seconds or shorter, copyright allowing.

Starting on Oct. 16 and running through Jan. 12, 2026, the International Center of Photography in New York presents the exhibition “Sergio Larrain: Wanderings,” which the ICP calls “a new perspective on Larrain’s inventive and humanist photography that for decades has remained little seen and seldom exhibited.” The acclaimed Chilean photographer joined Magnum in 1959 His notable series include “Vagabond Children” (1957), “London” (1959-59) and "Valparaiso” (1952–62).
