State of the Art: Kohler Unveils a Camera for Your Toilet

Some cat litter boxes come with camera allowing pet owners to monitor their kitty’s poops, because that’s what some cat owners do to keep an eye on their feline’s health and habits. Now kitchen and bathroom fixture company Kohler is taking that idea and applying it to human needs with a new $599 device called the Dekoda: It's essentially a camera that can be attached to your toilet bowl and take pictures of what’s inside. Since her early teens, the British photographer Jennie Baptiste has recorded on film the worlds of fashion, dance and music. Now the first institutional survey of Baptiste’s work is on view at London’s Somerset House (through Jan. 4, 2026). Covering three decades, the exhibition “Jennie Baptiste: Rhythm & Roots”  features portraits of music stars including the American rapper Nas and the American rapper and businessman Jay-Z along with insider perspectives on Black British cultures, notes The New York Times.   Read the full Story >>

Honor Roll: College Photographer of the Year Winners

The winners have been announced for the 80th edition of the prestigious College Photographer of The Year competition. Among them: Ethan Swope, University of California Los Angeles, takes the top prize in the Spot News category for his image of a resident of a senior center being rushed into a vehicle while evacuating as the Eaton Fire approached on Jan. 7, 2025, in Altadena, California.
