Bali, Indonesian-based photographer Yury Ivanov is the  top winner of the 2025 Ocean Photographer of the Year contest for his macro image of two amphipods from the Cyproideidae family, aka “Ladybugs of the Sea,” each measuring around just 3mm in body length. “It required a lot of patience and precision to compose and light the shot properly," says Ivanov, who shot the pair as they rested on a piece of coral. ”It was taken at a depth of 19 meters, during a sunny day with calm sea conditions. In Focus: UK Press Photographer Has Police 'Assault' Conviction Overturned

A UK press photographer who was arrested while covering a fire at a car dealership after an altercation with police has had his subsequent conviction overturned. Dimitris Legakis was found guilty by magistrates last year for what has now been described as making "insulting comments" to fire officers at the scene of the blaze, notes the BBC. Prosecutor Alexandra Wilson told the Swansea Crown Court that after reviewing the evidence and talking to witnesses, opposing the appeal would not be in the public interest. In Focus: ICE Protest Photo Grabs the Internet's Attention

A photograph showing a man carrying an American flag amid clouds of teargas fired by federal agents during a protest at an ICE facility in Broadview, Illinois, on Sept. 19 has grabbed the internet’s attention after it appeared on the front page of  the Chicago Tribune. The photo, by Stacey Wescott (Chicago Tribune), shows Curtis Evans, of Evanston, Illinois, identified as a military veteran, carrying the flag as officers cleared protesters from the entrance to Customs Enforcement facility.   Read the full Story >>
