State of the Art: Can YouTube Make Livestreaming Its Next Big Thing?

YouTube has already pushed podcasts from our earbuds to our television screens. Now, notes the New York Times, the platform is making another wager, announcing its most significant product updates to livestreaming since late 2013, when it began offering creators the ability to broadcast in real time. The updates make it easier for novices to start streaming, for experienced streamers to try new formats and for everyone to make more money from advertising. See It Now: Renell Medrano's ICE Magazine Returns

Bronx-born photographer and director Renell Medrano is back with the second issue of what she calls “the coldest magazine on Earth.” Moving on from the magazine’s New York–inspired debut, the second volume of Ice heads south to channel the spirit of Atlanta, notes Dazed. “I picked Atlanta because I feel a strong connection to the South. “Every time I visit, the energy down there reminds me of home,” says Medrano, who calls Ice “an extension of myself – a platform to spotlight women and creatives wherever I go."   Read the full Story >>

Media Watch: Meet Reuters' First Social-First Video Reporter

Tristan Werkmeister, 26, joined Reuters as the newsroom’s first social video reporter in January.  Since then, notes Nieman Lab, the look of Reuters’ videos hasn’t radically changed. But output has. Reuters now produces four times as many vertical videos per day as it used to. “We recognize shifts in news consumption habits, and more than ever, we need to meet audiences where they are. Exhibitions: Women Photojournalists of Washington at the Bronx Documentary Center
