Books: Stephen Shore's After-School Work

The acclaimed photographer Stephen Shore says he has no recollection of taking the images that appear in his new book Early Work—photographs he made between 1960 and 1965. “I remember none of it!” he tells New York magazine's Curbed blog. “I mean, there are a couple of pictures that I remember taking, but it’s almost like an out-of-body experience.” Some of the photos were made when he was just 13, and most went unpublished. Passings: Magnum Photographer Chris Steele-Perkins, Chronicler of UK Youth and More, Dies at 78

Influential British documentary photographer Chris Steele-Perkins died on Sept. 8 in Japan, notes Magnum, the agency Steele-Perkins joined in 1979. He was 78. Born in Burma in 1947, Steele-Perkins moved to England when he was two years old. He originally studied psychology at the University of Newcastle, before moving to London in 1971 and kick-starting his career as a freelance photographer, notes Amateur Photographer. Discovery is suing image generator Midjourney for copyright infringement, escalating a high-stakes battle involving the use of movies and TV shows owned by major studios to teach AI systems.
