August presents its share of opportunities for astrophotographers, including the full sturgeon moon on the 9th. But the star of the nightly show this month are falling stars: The Perseids meteor shower can produce up to 60 meteors every hour. This year’s Perseids will peak on the evening of August 12 and morning of August 13. Tech News: Insta360 Takes Off With a Drone Brand Called Antigravity

Action cam company Insta360 has announced the launch of its new drone brand, called Antigravity, and teased what it says will be the world's first drone with inbuilt 360-degree video capture. The debut Antigravity drone is set to be released in August, notes Mashable. The company says it will weigh less than 249g, which is about as heavy as the DJI Mini 4K or Mini 4 Pro and will also capture 360-degree footage at 8K resolution, just like Insta360's recently released X5 camera.   Read the full Story >>

Art News: Photographer Bill Cunningham's Archive Acquired by New York Historical

Photographer Bill Cunningham’s many years of recording fashion as seen on the streets of Manhattan made him a New York institution, and now, notes WWD, his archive has been acquired by another NYC institution — the New York Historical. The archive comprises “tens of thousands” of photographs, negatives, slides, contact sheets, prints, scrapbooks and correspondences that the longtime New York Times photographer created before his death on 2016. The Times confirms that it owns the copyright to some of Cunningham’s photos, but not all.   Read the full Story >>
