Composed of over 250 self-portraits and personal statements by survivors of sexual violence around the world, the project "resists the logic of anonymity or abstraction. Each participant chooses how to be seen—how to pose, what to reveal, and what to say,” adds the magazine.

Swedish clothing retailer H&M is rolling out what it calls “digital twins”—effectively AI-generated clones of its models. Critics have argued that the technology has the potential long-term effect of wiping out photographers as well as other human creatives like makeup artists and hair stylists, notes PetaPixel, but H&M is defending the practice. “It’s not a question of man versus machine, I think it’s man and machine,” says H&M Chief Creative Officer Jörgen Andersson. “What the machine can do is basically amplify human creativity.”

Tom Stoddart Award for Excellence Wednesday July 16, 2025
The Ian Parry Photojournalism Grant is teaming with GOST Books to launch the Tom Stoddart Award for Excellence, which offers established photographers working in long-form documentary photography the chance to have their work published as a book. The winner will also receive £5,000 ($6,812) towards completion of her of his chosen project. The recipient must have an in-depth project which is nearing completion and extensive enough to warrant a book. Deadline: August 31.

Last week, President Donald Trump set a 25% tax on goods imported from Japan and South Korea, as well as new tariff rates on a dozen other nations that would go into effect on Aug. 1, noted Associated Press. The Trump administration initially announced tariffs aimed at numerous countries on April 2nd, including 24% on Japanese goods. However, it later placed a 90-day pause on full tariff amounts, setting a universal baseline tariff of 10%. The gradual increase in camera prices over the past few months may steepen dramatically after Aug, 1, adds DP Review.
