A US District Court of California has granted a temporary restraining order against the City of Los Angeles, and therefore the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD), barring law enforcement from blocking, assaulting, citing, or detaining a journalist from documenting a march, protest, rally, or demonstration. The Los Angeles Press Club brought the case against the city of Los Angeles, citing multiple instances where police assaulted, blocked, or otherwise prevented a journalist from performing their job as protected by the First Amendment of the US Constitution, notes PetaPixel.

SHARK TRUST Thursday July 17, 2025
July 14 was Shark Awareness Day, and the Shark Trust, a UK-based organization focusing on shark conservation efforts, took the opportunity to announce the winners of its Shark Photographer of the Year contest. Photographer Julian Hebenstreit earns the top prize for his image of a golden Indo-Pacific leopard shark set against dark rock and pale sand in waters off Australia. “I selected this image because it reminds me why I do what I do. Why I dive, why I explore, and try to protect,” Hebenstreit says.

Photo London, the UK’s leading photography fair, will relocate from its longtime home at Somerset House to the newly renovated Olympia in west London next year. Photo London’s organizers say participating galleries and collectors have been pushing for a more flexible, cohesive environment in which to show work. Housed within the National Hall, one of Olympia’s newly refurbished venues, the art fair will feature enhanced sight lines, greater navigability, increased capacity for talks, events, and "VIP and collector lounges.”
