Industry News: Tamron is Shifting Where Its Lenses are Made Because of US Tariffs

Tamron has disclosed that it plans to shift production of its lenses because of President Donald Trump’s tariffs. In its recently release Q1 financial results, Tamron reveals that it currently produces approximately 25% of its products in Vietnam, 65% in China and 10% in Japan. However, notes DP Review, it is aiming to adjust that by 2028, reducing the amount of production in China to 45% while increasing production in Vietnam to 45%. Additionally, Tamron says it will reduce its parts procurement from China to 20% this year, down 10% from the current amount.   Read the full Story >>

Exhibitions: Lauren Greenfield's 'Social Studies'

Shot during the 2021–2022 school year across Los Angeles, Lauren Greenfield’s project “Social Studies” follows a diverse group of teens navigating high school, home life, and relationships under the influence of social media. The work was the basis for Greenfield’s acclaimed docuseries Social Studies( FX/Hulu) and now it is being featured at L.A.’s Fahey/Klein Gallery (May 22-July 6). The project marks Greenfield’s return to a subject she has explored since her groundbreaking 1997 book Fast Forward: Growing Up in the Shadow of Hollywood.   Read the full Story >>

Tech News: Let Microsoft 'Relight' Your Photos

Microsoft has unveiled new Surface devices along with new "experiences" for Windows 11 and Copilot+ PCs, including an interesting new feature called Relight, which lets users adjust lighting in photos by positioning up to three virtual light sources. Users can adjust each light's color, focus point, intensity and position. It was designed to correct poor lighting or add some artistic flair to an image.
