Books: The Magic of Ballet Captured by Alexey Brodovitch

Alexey Brodovitch, the transformative art director of Harper’s Bazaar from 1934 to 1958, made only one book, Ballet, of which only 500 copies were printed when it was published in 1945, yet this modest artist’s book would come to have a seismic influence on the course of photography. And yet, notes The New York Times, it had a “seismic influence,” inspiring generations of artists and becoming a touchstone in the history of photography. Media Watch: Campus Newspapers Adopt New Policies to Protect International Students

As the Trump administration began its crackdown on international students associated with pro-Palestinian campus movements, college newspapers have faced a new challenge: an influx of requests from worried students to remove photos, make quotes anonymous, and take down some articles entirely for their safety.
