Honor Roll: 2025 SkyPixel Aerial Photo Contest Winners

SkyPixel, the world’s largest aerial photography and video community, has announced the high-flying winners of its 2025 photo contest, co-sponsored by drone maker DJI. The 2025 Annual Best Photo Prize goes to photographer Gangerqia for his image “Mysterious Realm,” which shows a red-crowned crane against a landscape of snow. The top video prize goes to Bashir Abu Shakra for “The War - My Transformation Journey,” which was filmed over the course of five years across eight countries, including China, Venezuela, Italy.   Read the full Story >>

Trending: Journalism Under Threat In Turkey, Says AFP Photographer

Yasin Akgul, a photojournalist for Agence France-Presse who was arrested last week after covering the huge protests rocking his native Turkey, said after his release that the profession is under threat in the country. Akgul, 35, who spent four days in custody, condemned a push "to make it impossible" to bring images of the protests to the world, as President Recep Tayyip Erdogan faces growing unrest over the March 19 arrest of his main rival, Istanbul mayor Ekrem Imamoglu.
