Passings: Wildlife Photographer Jim Brandenburg Dies at 79

Renowned wildlife photographer Jim Brandenburg died on April 4 at his home in Medina, Minnesota, notes Minnesota Public Radio. He was 79 and had been treated for thyroid cancer and pneumonia. Brandenburg was “best known for his images of the wolves, moose, and deep snow of northern Minnesota. He was also noted for “93 Days of Spring,” a project documenting spring in 93 photographs. Those images were published in National Geographic in May 2016. At the time, adds MPR, that was the most photographs ever published in a single feature of the magazine.   Read the full Story >>

Tech News: Fujifilm Underestimated the X-M5's Popularity But Don't Worry

Although the Fujifilm X-M5 launched late last year to mixed reviews, it has proven extremely popular with consumers, especially those seeking to up their photo and video game at a budget-friendly price point, notes PetaPixel. At this point the X-M5 is challenging to find, but Fujifilm promises that it will be able to ramp up production to meet demand. “Compared to the X100VI, producing [the X-M5] is much less complex. Books: Danny Lyon's Elegiac Portrait of Rusted-Out Cars

Following the publication of his 2024 memoir, This is My Life I’m Talking About, photographer Danny Lyon, 83, has now returned with the monograph Junk: America in Ruins  (Damiani Books), a meditation on the classic cars of his youth and their fate in rural scrapyards of the West. In a broader sense, notes AnOther, the book is about life and the inevitability of decay. “Some of my favorite pictures are the interiors of cars.
