Honor Roll: Nat Geo's Thomas Peschak to Receive 2025 Eliza Scidmore Award

Photographer and National Geographic Explorer Thomas P. Peschak will receive the National Geographic Society’s 2025 Eliza Scidmore Award for Outstanding Storytelling for his long legacy of conservation storytelling. The award — named for the writer and photographer Eliza Scidmore, the first woman elected to the Society’s Board of Trustees in 1892 — “recognizes individuals whose work focuses on immersive storytelling to advance our understanding of the environmental and conservation issues we face,” notes the NGS.   Read the full Story >>

For the last five years, photographers and longtime life partners Carolyn Drake and Andres Gonzalez have traversed the border between Mexico and the United States, working together for the first time on a project that We Present calls “a complex yet tender rumination on the human connection, migration and the mechanics of photography itself.” The project, titled  “I’ll let you be in my dreams if I can be in yours,” began, says Gonzalez, when he and Drake “began seeing children getting separated from their parents at the border.”   Read the full Story >>

Art News: William Eggleston Print Sells for $1.44 Million, Breaking Record

A print of William Eggleston’s photo “Untitled, 1971-1974” sold for $1.44 million, more than twice the low estimate, at Christie's in New York on November 21.  That represents a new record for the artist, beating his previous auction record by $419,000, a 40 percent rise, notes Heni News. The photograph, which shows a cocktail on an airplane, comes from Eggleston’s Los Alamos series, adds PetaPixel. The pigment print, flush-mounted on board, was printed in 2012 and is work number one from an edition of two. It had been sold once before.   Read the full Story >>
