Coca-Cola is giving the gift of AI this holiday season: Adweek reports that the soft drinks company used artificial intelligence tools to create three new versions of it classic “Holidays Are Coming” ad, complete with Coke trucks, polar bears and happy people in knit hats. Coca-Cola worked with several studios to create the ads, including Street Level, whose founder, Jason Zada, says that the spots borrow rom the original, “in terms of tonality and musically,” while being re-imagined “for a whole new generation.” But is it the real thing?

The American photographer Tina Barney says that art runs in her blood; her grandfather was an amateur photographer, her mother a fashion model, and for generations her family collected art. At age nine she visited the Jeu de Paume gallery for the first time; in a full circle moment, Barney, now 79, has a major solo exhibition there, aptly titled "Family Ties." There’s also a book coming, notes AnOther, which recently talked with Barney about her work—which, notes writer Violet Conroy, has long been about families of one sort or another.

Camera and lens sales data for September 2024 show the highest shipments of the calendar year so far across all categories—perhaps not surprising with the holidays looming, notes Digital Camera Review. But the data from the Camera Imaging Products Association (CIPA), the Japanese camera and lens manufacturers' trade body, also shows that cumulatively DSLR units are down 21 percent compared to 2023. CIPA reports that the quantity of total shipment of digital stills cameras worldwide for September stood at 832,874, up from 831,098 in 2023.

Organized by the World Press Photo Foundation, the Joop Swart Masterclass brings together emerging talents in visual storytelling from across the globe. This year 12 photographers will gather in Amsterdam for workshops, discussions, and collaborations, and the British Journal of Photography profiles three of them: Lebanese photographer Myriam Boulos; Iranian-Canadian photographer Kiana Hayeri; and Belal Khaled, a photojournalist from Gaza who, notes the BJP, “has dedicated his career to capturing the realities of life under siege.”
