Drone maker DJI has sued the US Department of Defense for designating it as a Chinese military company, notes PC Mag. When it was added to the list in 2022, DJI said it was "not a military company in China, the United States or anywhere else” and had “never designed or manufactured military-grade equipment” or marketed or sold its products for military use in any country. In its lawsuit, DJI alleges that it has lost business deals and government agency contracts due to the DOD's designation, and that its employees "now suffer frequent and pervasive stigmatization" and are "repeatedly harassed and insulted in public places.”

Iranian photographer Khashayar Javanmardi’s youth was punctuated by weekends and extended holidays on the Iranian coastline of the Caspian Sea, the world’s largest inland body of water. More recently, notes CNN, Javanmardi has been photographing the decay of the Caspian Sea, brought about by what the UN Environment Program has described as “an enormous burden of pollution” from offshore oil fields, radioactive wastes from nuclear power plants, untreated sewage and industrial waste.

Fakes are rife in the worlds of photography and video, from memory cards and batteries to more expensive gear like lenses. Tamron has been a victim of such fraudsters, and now, notes DIY Photography, Tamron China has issued a warning. The company says that their service department has started to receive a number of fake “Tamron” lenses in China. While the warning does appear to be primarily targeted towards Chinese purchasers, “we know how easy it is for these sellers to target the rest of the world,” adds DIYP.
