Website builder Squarespace is no longer a publicly traded company, after being acquired by private equity firm Permira for $7.2 billion. Permira procured all remaining common stock in the firm, reports TechCrunch, adding that the acquisition is one of the biggest “take-private” deals of 2024. Founded in 2004 by Anthony Casalena, Squarespace is a no-code platform for SMEs and freelancers, including many photographers, to build websites, blogs, and online stores, notes TC; Casalena will continue as Squarespace’s CEO and chairman.

Boston-based engineer Wenting Zhang has been experimenting with DIY electronics for over a decade, and he also loves taking photos, so building his own camera was sort of a no-brainer. "I initially had the idea of building my own camera during middle school. Back then, I wasn't allowed to use my parents' camera and couldn't afford a real camera. I naively thought it would be possible, and cheaper, if I just built one myself," Zhang recently told DP Review. He also explains how he built the camera at his YouTube channel.

Though he plays bass in one of the world’s foremost rock bands, Colin Greenwood doesn't view himself as a public figure—and in some ways, notes CNN, he retreats even further from the public eye in his newly released photography book, titled How to Disappear: Portrait of Radiohead. “Holding a camera and taking pictures is a nice way of sort of hiding behind something whilst everything else is going on on front of you,” says Greenwood, who was drawn to photography after college.
