Applications are open for the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation Environmental Photography Award. The annual award was created to reward photographers who “put their creativity to the good use in raising awareness on Earth protection.” There are five categories: Polar Wonders; Into the Forest; Ocean Worlds; Humanity Versus Nature; Change Makers; and Reasons for Hope. Category winners received €1,000 and the top winner receives €5,000.

Russia is the most prolific foreign influence actor using artificial intelligence to generate content targeting the 2024 presidential election, U.S. intelligence officials said recently. “The [intelligence community] considers AI a malign influence accelerant, not yet a revolutionary influence tool. In other words, information operations are the threat, and AI is an enabler,” said an official from the Office of the Director of National Intelligence. Teahupo’o, a village located on Tahiti’s southeastern coast, boasts a shallow and precipitous coral reef system that creates a unique surf break, resulting in some of the largest waves on Earth. These powerful, barreling surges draw in surfers from around the world, including, notes Colossal, photographer Tim McKenna. The photographer, who grew up surfing on the west coasts of France and Australia, began documenting waves as he rode in their heaving movements and eventually settled in Teahupo’o, where he’s lived for more than 20 years.
