If size matters to you, then you’ll want to look at a new video from YouTube’s Camera.Mellow comparing the Nikon Zf, Panasonic Lumix S9 and Sony A7C II. The results, notes Digital Camera World, “were interesting, to say the least.”  The Nikon Zf is the largest and heaviest of the three cameras and the Lumix S9 is the lightest and smallest. But the Nikon, when paired with the Nikon Z 26mm f/2.8 lens, fared surprisingly well when stacked up next to the Lumix S9's Panasonic Lumix S 26mm f/8.   Read the full Story >>

Since the 1980s, Vancouver-baed photographer Stan Douglas has staged disorienting scenes of historical re-enactments, often drawing on archival research to “push the limits of his medium,” notes The New York Times. Recently, New York’s David Zwirner gallery  has been showing Douglas’s series “The Enemy of All Mankind,” a collection of nine large prints depicting scenes from a 1729 ballad opera, “Polly,” by the English poet and dramatist John Gay. Legal Brief: German Court Rules Against Photographer in Wallpaper Copyright Case

Earlier this year, photographer Stefan Böhme sued a woman after she posted a photo of her grandmother’s apartment on a vacation property rental website. The apartment photo featured a wallpaper based on photographs taken by Böhme. The case opened a can of worms, as there are numerous wallpapers that include copyrighted work, notes PetaPixel. The German Supreme Court tackled the thorny issue across three parallel cases, each with the same plaintiff, Stefan Böhme. Art News: 2025 Deutsche Borse Prize Shortlist Revealed

Deutsche Börse Photography Foundation   Wednesday October 23, 2024

Works with themes of migration, community, inter-generational traditions, and memory have been shortlisted for the 2025 Deutsche Börse Photography Foundation Prize. The nominees are: Spanish photographer Cristina De Middel; American photographer Rahim Fortune; Peruvian photographer Tarrah Krajnak; and South African photographer Lindokuhle Sobekwa. The winner, to be announced next May, receives £30,000. An exhibition of the four selected artists will go on show London’s The Photographers’ Gallery from March 7 to June 15, 2025, notes Art Review.   Read the full Story >>
