Tech News: This App Lets Your iPhone Mimic Leica Cameras and Classic Lenses

Leica wants in on Fujifilm’s film simulation hype, so it is bringing its own color profiles to iPhone users by way of a new Leica Lux app, notes The Verge. The app is loaded with 11 color profiles (dubbed “Leica Looks”) designed to match current Leica cameras and classic film-inspired aesthetics. It can be used in a fully automatic mode but there’s also an “Aperture mode” that mimics the style and bokeh of multi-thousand-dollar lenses like the Summilux-M 35mm f/1.4 ASPH and classic Noctilux-M 50mm f/1.2 ASPH of 1966.   Read the full Story >>

Exhibitions: Dora Maar, On Her Own Terms

The French surrealist photographer Dora Maar was more than just  the inspiration for Pablo Picasso’s “Weeping Woman.” She was also “a pioneer admired by the likes of Henri Cartier-Bresson and Man Ray. Her position as Picasso’s lover clouded over her undeniable artistic talent,” notes Amar Singh of London’s Amar Gallery, which features the exhibition “Dora Maar: Behind the Lens,” through Aug. 18. The exhibition, notes Artnet, coincides with the upcoming release of author Louisa Treger’s historical fiction The Paris Muse, about Maar and Picasso.   Read the full Story >>

Adobe has found itself embroiled in a controversy after numerous users received pop-up notifications in Adobe applications saying the company had updated its General Terms of Use: Among other things, the notices said that Adobe could access user content through automated and manual methods, notes PetaPixel. But the company responded with a follow-up blog post explaining the changes to its Terms of Use and saying it isn’t spying on users. “We remain committed to transparency, protecting the rights of creators and enabling our customers to do their best work,” noted the company.   Read the full Story >>
