Acclaimed wildlife photographer Tom Mangelson has been found guilty of a minor moving violation in Grand Teton National Park, and it was a costly loss, notes the Jackson Hole News & Guide: Mangelson says he spent some $20,000 fighting a $150 traffic ticket. On Oct. 9, Mangelson, who is based in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, saw a grizzly bear on the side of Highway 26 in Grand Teton National Park that had apparently been struck by a vehicle. He was cited by park rangers for “operating a vehicle so slowly as to interfere with the normal flow of traffic.” Mangelson later said he did “exactly the right thing a person with common sense and a brain would do under the circumstances,” notes WyoFile.   Read the full Story >>

What We Learned This Week: The U.S. Sues Adobe Over Its Difficult Cancellation Policies

U.S. regulators have sued Adobe over claims that the company made it difficult to cancel subscriptions to Photoshop and other software, an escalation by regulators in a crackdown against such practices. The Justice Department said in its lawsuit that Adobe hid details of an expensive cancellation fee from consumers "in fine print and behind optional text boxes and hyperlinks." Passings: Argentine Photographer Sara Facio Dies at 92

Argentine photographer Sara Facio, who captured artists like Julio Cortázar, Jorge Luis Borges, and Astor Piazzolla with her camera, died on June 18, reports the Buenos Aires Herald. She was 92. Argentina’s culture secretary, Leonardo Cifelli, praised Facio, calling her “a tireless worker who elevated the art of photography.” In 1968, Facio published Buenos Aires, Buenos Aires, her first book of photoraphs, She went on to publish a book on the history of Argentine photography: La fotografía en la Argentina: desde 1840 a nuestros días.   Read the full Story >>

Exhibitions: 'Frida Kahlo Forever Yours'

The exhibition “Frida Kahlo: Forever Yours,” at New York’s Throckmorton Fine Art  through Sept. 7, makes the case that photographic portraits of the artist are “a unique expression” of her creative persona, notes Artnet. The exhibition presents 50 photographs of Kahlo dating from 1929 to 1951, including iconic portraits, tender moments with her husband, the artist Diego Rivera, and playful, as well as irreverent moments with friends.
