Travel can be a nightmare: PetaPixel tells the story of lifestyle and fashion photographer Anvar Karimov, who was required by United Airlines to check his camera bag — with unhappy consequences. Karimov got to his destination and found all of his equipment broken, apparently after his kit had been dropped and opened. Karimov, who was traveling from Los Angeles to Chicago for an assignment, estimates the loss at $15,000, but he says United has offered him only a $100 travel credit as compensation.

Bias in AI image generators is a well-studied and well-reported phenomenon, and the latest culprit in this area, notes TechCrunch, is Meta’s AI chatbot, which likes to add turbans to any image of an Indian man. The company recently rolled out Meta AI in more than a dozen countries across WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook and Messenger. TechCrunch looked at various culture-specific queries as part of its AI testing process and found that turbans appeared in roughly three to four out of five images representing Indian males.

Now, notes DIY Photography, Ricoh is changing things up. Unable to keep up with demand for the Ricoh GR III/IIIx HDF, the company is turning to a lottery to decide whose orders get filled. At 7 a.m. each day over the last month, a group of five photographers has assembled at the Manhattan Criminal Courthouse to document former President Donald Trump’s hush money trial. Among them are Jeenah Moon and Spencer Platt, seasoned photojournalists at Bloomberg and Getty Images. They tell Yahoo News that the gravity of their role is not lost on them. “It's a lot of pressure,” says Platt. “For the first couple weeks, the historic weight of the first presidential trial, really, in modern history weighs on you.”
