“I like to get deep into my subject matter, often returning time and again for a year or more until a hidden and more meaningful story finally reveals itself. My favorite photographs are the ones that engage use personally.” So says Kevin McKeon, a commercial and documentary photographer who will present his work at the next Projections event. To mark the 50th anniversary of its classic album “The Dark Side of the Moon,” Pink Floyd recently ran an animation contest in which creatives were invited to submit music videos for songs on the album. But, notes PetaPixel, outrage ensued after the creator of the winning video revealed it was created with AI. “As a 3D artist myself, I tried to go a completely different way and try something new so I used Stable Diffusion installed locally,” said the creator, Damián Gaume. The controversy follows similar drama at other contests, adds PP.

Matthew Jordan Smith's book of Aretha Franklin photos was a long time coming, notes CNN. Smith was the legendary singer's official photographer from 2005 until her death from neuroendocrine cancer in 2018. Delayed by the pandemic, the book, Aretha Cool, was crowdfunded and is now available. Smith calls it “a heartfelt tribute to the remarkable final chapter" in the life of Franklin. I've shot so many different artists and celebrities. But there was nobody like Aretha,” Smith says.
