See It Now: A Short Film About Photographer Larry Fink

On view at the photography platform Fellowship is the short documentary film Fink, which celebrates the life and work of acclaimed photographer Larry Fink (1941-2023). Directed by Lisa Schiller, the film “offers a glimpse into his creativity and aesthetic process,” notes Wallpaper, The platform is also hosting “Larry Fink: A Life of Looking,” a digital exhibition and NFT sale curated by photography director Holly Hay. Tech News: Nikon Z9 Gets Another Firmware Update for Better Portraits and More

We noted recently that Nikon is enthusiastic  about firmware updates. Now the company has released firmware v5.0 for its Z9 pro sports flagship camera. The update enhances the Auto Capture function introduced last June, offers presets for countering LED flicker, and adds the portrait color mode and processing options from the Z8 and Zf, along with a series of smaller refinements, notes DP Review. In Focus: Covering Violence Against Women in Haiti

Ariana Cubillos, an Associated Press photojournalist based in Caracas, Venezuela, was in Haiti in 2032 in search of stories that could highlight the human impact of Haiti’s deepening gang violence crisis. She came across a house where families had gathered to protect each other and stopped to hear their stories. “[M]ost had been sexually assaulted, others had gunshot wounds or signs of physical abuse,” she writes in a post detailing her experiences covering violence against women in the country.   Read the full Story >>

State of the Art: Microsoft Bing Introduces Content Credentials for AI-Generated Images

Microsoft is incorporating the Content Credentials system to verify AI-generated imagery, marking what PC Tablet calls ”a pivotal move in the battle against misinformation and the misuse of AI in generating deceptive imagery.” Embedded watermarks will confirm an image’s AI origin, including the date and time of creation, in line with C2PA standards.
