Through Jan. 14, 2024, the Minneapolis Institute of Art presents “In Our Hands: Native Photography, 1890 to Now,” an exhibition that builds on the work of Native artists, scholars, and knowledge-sharers to trace the intersecting histories of photography and First Nations, Métis, Inuit, and Native American cultures, from the Rio Grande to the Arctic Circle. Tech News: RightsClick Plugin For Capture One Will Make Copyright Registration Easy

Photo editing app Capture One has partnered with copyright management company RightsClick to create a plugin that will allow photographers to quickly and easily register their works. “The photographer with a RightsClick account linked to Capture One can file a registration application in less time than the average coffee break. We even take care of the spreadsheets,” notes RightsClick. “Many photographers know that copyright registration is essential, but they often don’t register because the process is time-consuming and complex,” adds the company.   Read the full Story >>

In Focus: Israel and Hamas Trade Prisoners for Hostages

Israel is releasing Hamas prisoners in return for hostages held by Hamas since its October 7 attack on Israel. Meanwhile, inside Gaza hundreds of thousands of civilians have been living for weeks without power, food and water or medical supplies, notes NPR, which features a photo report with images from Mahmoud Illean (AP); Said Khatib (AFP/Getty Images); Nasser Nasser (AP); Jack Guez (AFP/Getty Images) and other photographers. Trending: Drama Over Firing of Reuters White House Photographer

Veteran Reuters White House photographer Jonathan Ernst has been fired over what management described as “gross neglect of duty” following a heated disagreement with White House press aides. The incident occurred after Ernst was allegedly asked to leave the Oval Office ahead of president Joe Biden’s prime-time national address on Oct. 19, reports Politico. Ernst, the pool photographer on duty that day, pushed back.
