The International Pet Photographer of the Year Awards, hosted by Unleashed Pet Photography Education, has attracted criticism because of its rules that allow judges to enter and win prizes. PetaPixel received an email from a reader that described concerning aspects of the contest rules stipulating that judges were not only eligible to enter but also could win prizes and the “International Pet Photographer of the Year” title. The competition is set to reveal its winners in Sept.

AI is changing every industry, including, of course, photography. And while you may have some existential fears about what services like Midjourney portend for art, there is an upside, notes Robert K Baggs at Fstoppers: Photographers have an edge when it comes to image-generating AI. Most people do not use text-to-image AI particularly well, “just typing basic prompts and hoping to get lucky,” notes Baggs. “You can improve this with various parameters, but where photographers and videographers have the advantage is using our expertise in the prompt.”
