Google Photos is rolling out its redesigned web-based editor with new features to make photo editing on a Mac or PC easier, notes PetaPixel. Google Photos now offers web users several features in the new “Suggestions tab” including preset color options, and granular image adjustments. It also offers more from its Aspect Ratio tool. Meanwhile, PP also reports that Microsoft may be bringing AI features to built-in Windows apps like Photos, Camera, Snipping Tool, and Paint.

Rich St. Pierre was 7 years old when his mother died suddenly. More than 30 years later, he faced another tragedy when Carolynne, the mother of his son — and the mother of two children from a previous marriage — was diagnosed with an aggressive form of liver cancer. For 17 years, photographer Preston Gannaway has been documenting St. Pierre’s grief and growth, as she describes it in a New York Times essay. Her book Remember Meis forthcoming. Her own development as an artist has paralleled Rich’s as a person, she notes.

Founded by photography educator Stephen Frailey in 2007, Dear Dave magazine has supported the publication of photographers and writers and is now offering a fellowship program that fosters “the continued conversation about the medium through idiosyncratic, and underrepresented work.” It’s a chance to have your work seen by an illustrious and innovative jury, and the possibility of modest economic support and publication in Dear Dave magazine, notes Frailey. Among the jurors: Alessia Glaviano of Vogue, Giada de Agostinis of The New Yorker, and Andrew Sanigar of Thames & Hudson. Deadline: Sept. 15.
