The Photoville photography festival returns to New York City on June 3 and runs through June 18. The 2023 edition of the event features more than 80 exhibitions across the city’s five boroughs. The festival’s headquarter remain in Brooklyn Bridge Park, with free open-air exhibitions and shipping container galleries in Photoville Village at the recently opened Emily Warren Roebling Plaza, notes Time Out. Other exhibitions can be found at Brookfield Place in Manhattan, Astoria Park in Queens, South Beach Promenade in Staten Island, and Van Cortlandt Park in The Bronx.

Nikon Japan has announced a price increase on more than 50 products, including the flagship Z9 mirrorless camera, reports Nikon Rumors. The company says the price hikes are due to increased costs of raw materials. The list also includes a variety of the company’s Nikkor Z lenses and teleconverters as well as a massive array of F mount AF-S lenses, notes DIY Photography, which adds that the price rises may ripple across the world.

ReFocus Color Photography Contest Tuesday May 23, 2023
Belgian photojournalist Alain Schroeder, a past winner of the American Photography Open competition, is the winner of the 2023 ReFocus Color Photography Contest’s Professional category for his image “Kushti,” an evocative look at a traditional form of wrestling in India. Schroeder captured two wrestlers relaxing after training. “Living and training together promotes camaraderie, solidarity and fraternity in this universe where time has stood still, ” he explains. The contest drew entries from 70 countries.
