In 2005, the photographer Christopher Churchill visited a Hutterite colony on the Montana Hi-Line, a stretch of prairie along the Canadian border. He was traveling the United States for a project about faith, hoping to find commonalities among divergent beliefs, but he soon became interested in another American belief system: capitalism. Churchill was struck by the way commerce had shaped even this isolated landscape, notes The Atlantic. That idea inspired a new project that brought Churchill back to Montana last summer.

Instagram is launching a new broadcast chat feature on Instagram called “Channels” that lets creators share public, one-to-many messages to directly engage with their followers. Channels support text, images, polls, reactions and more, notes TechCrunch. The feature is similar to one on the Telegram platform. Meta says more options, like Ask Me Anything functionality and the ability to have guest appearances, will come. “Creators can use broadcast channels to help followers stay in the know with the latest updates and behind-the-scenes moments,” notes Instagram.

Just over a year ago, Yulia Bondarenko’s days were full of lesson plans, grading and her students’ seventh-grade hormones. When Russian missiles and troops threatened her home in Kyiv, Bondarenko, 30, volunteered to fight, despite her lack of experience and the grave risk to her life. “I never held a rifle in my hands and never even saw one up close,” she tells The New York Times. Photographer Lynsey Addario spent a year following Bondarenko’s transition from teacher to warrior.
