ChatGPT is the fastest growing app of all time. According to one study, the chatbot that can spit out cogent answers to virtually any query in seconds had 13 million unique visitors per day in January, which is more than double the visitors it had in December. ChatGPT has only been around a little over two months and already has 100 million monthly users, notes Mashable. How will photographers use the technology? Photofocus has some ideas—seven to be precise. ChatGPT might suggest ideas for photo shoots, or offer advice on what gear you’ll use. It might also offer insights on color theory.

Plenty of photographers (and some Kardashians) complained that Instagram went too far in promoting video over photography last year. And now, notes The Verge, Instagram head Adam Mossari says he, too, believes video got a lopsided emphasis. “I think we were overfocused on video in 2022 and pushed ranking too far and basically showed too many videos and not enough photos.” Mosseri said in a weekly Q&A with users. He added that Instagram has since worked behind the scenes to restore a more even balance, and internal metrics show that it’s working.

Miami-based photographer Celia D. Luna’s series “Cholitas Bravas” focuses on a group of Indigenous Bolivian women who wear traditional clothes while practicing extreme sports. “I’ve always admired brave women and culture; it’s in my DNA,” she tells Colossal, describing how her upbringing by a single mother in the Andes Mountains of neighboring Peru instilled in her an admiration for courage and perseverance. Indigenous Bolivian women have historically been banned from entering some public spaces, notes the website.
