Ever since she was abruptly fired as chief curator at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Los Angeles in 2018, Helen Molesworth has drawn strength and purpose from artists. “She has also more closely identified with what it’s like to be one of them, alone and unprotected,” notes The New York Times. Now she has curated a new exhibition at the International Center of Photography, “Face to Face: Portraits of Artists by Tacita Dean, Brigitte Lacombe and Catherine Opie,” featuring artists Molesworth has been close to throughout her 25-year career.

Jay-Z has reached a settlement in his lawsuit against Jonathan Mannion, the photographer behind some of his most iconic album covers including Reasonable Doubt, Vol. 2… Hard Knock Life and The Blueprint. The rap star sued Mannion in June 2021 over claims the photographer was profiting off his name, image and likeness without permission. The complaint specifically cited prints of Jay-Z that Mannion was selling on his website for thousands of dollars. When asked to stop selling the photos, Mannion allegedly demanded tens of millions of dollars, reports Hip Hop DX.

Ehudith Bracha Serchook escaped death when her family fled Nazi-allied forces storming the Crimean city of Odesa in 1941. Now, notes Reuters, the 86-year-old Serchook is retelling her story via artificial intelligence, creating images that will leave an enduring record of her trauma for future generations. With the aid of a technician, Serchook and other Israeli citizens key in elements of their stories to the Midjourney AI software, which turns the text prompts into graphic images.
