The crypto world has taken a beating of late, but the Los Angeles County Museum of Art is still interested. LACMA recently acquired 22 NFTs—representing a “who’s who of blockchain art” notes Art News. The works were all donated by a mysterious and prolific NFT collector who goes by the pseudonym Cozomo de’ Medici. The donation was motivated by a desire to start a new movement at LACMA, akin to the effect that William Randolph Hearst had when his donation of hundreds of artworks essentially converted LACMA from a history museum to an art museum.

Legendary surf photographer and cinematographer Larry Haynes died on February 9, collapsing after capturing what turned out to be his last big wave, notes People magazine. He was 62. Haynes, who also went by Fluid Vision, had been covering the biggest waves and surfers in Hawaii for the better part of 35 years, adds PetaPixel. Haynes concluded a session on his stand-up paddle board at Laniakea Beach, then came to shore and made his way to the parking lot, where he collapsed from what is being reported as cardiac arrest.

LiloPhoto bills itself as the world’s first professional self-portrait studio where anyone can get high-quality portraits taken without needing a photographer. The concept is a step-up from the classic mall photo booth, notes PetaPixel: A photo studio booth is equipped with built-in lighting that can be tuned by the subject for a desired look and style. The studio will then hold a session of 20 total photos, after which it will present them on a touchscreen. Customers are given minor editing options, including a few filters. The company has plans to roll out the studio across the US, beginning in Miami.
