Legal Brief: Suspected Chinese Spies Arrested in Plot to Obstruct US Huawei Probe

Two suspected Chinese intelligence officers have been charged with attempting to obstruct a U.S. criminal investigation of Chinese tech giant Huawei, reports Associated Press. The defendants are accused of paying tens of thousands of dollars in digital currency, along with cash and jewelry, to a U.S. official they thought could provide them with information they could use to block the Huawei investigation. But the person was actually a double agent working for the FBI, reports Associated Press. Art News: Cindy Sherman Joins ICP Board

The International Center of Photography has announced five new board members, including photographer Cindy Sherman. The others joining the board are Uzodinma Iweala, chief executive of the Africa Center in Harlem; gallerist Jane Corkin; philanthropist Robert Fribourg; and businessman Jonathan R. Furer. “I sensed that the organization, in asking me to participate, wanted to branch out from its more traditional roots and be seen in a broader sense of how photography is being used today,” Sherman told The New York Times.   Read the full Story >>

Tech News: Nikon Z9 Firmware Update Adds 'High-Res Zoom' and More

Nikon’s newly announced 3.0 firmware update brings a significant number of new features to the company’s flagship mirrorless camera, the Z9. Among them: a High-Res Zoom mode when shooting 4K video. The feature, notes DP Review, starts by capturing oversampled 4K video from the full width of the 8.3K sensor and slowly crops in until it switches over to capturing the 4K APS-C 1.5x crop section of the sensor, effectively providing a 2x digital parfocal zoom without users ever having to ever touch the lens attached to the camera.   Read the full Story >>
