No Drone? No Problem! Google has unveiled an AI-powered tool, called InfiniteNature-Zero, that lets you “fly into” a landscape scene, as you might with a drone. But you don’t need a drone, notes DIY Photography: All you need is a single landscape image. The AI program represents a tech advancement in that it was trained not with video but with a single photograph. “This AI is so much smarter than the previous one that was published just a year ago,” says Károly Zsolnai-Fehér of Two Minute Papers. “And it requires training data that is much easier to produce at the same time.”

The Pano Awards Wednesday October 12, 2022
Jinyi He of China is the overall winner of this year’s Epson International Pano Awards for his image “The Vein,” a composite of 40 aerial photographs (shot with a drone) of the Dushanzi Grand Canyon, a geological wonder in Tianshan Mountains in Xinjiang, China. “Nature is an artist, and it reminds me of an abstract painting,” says the photographer. This year’s contest for panoramic images drew 4,129 entries from 1,197 professional and amateur photographers in 98 countries.

Join 2022 APA Awards winners Sam Grant, Samantha Wolov, and Sam Zauscher as they present their work in a new Projections event tonight. Grant is an award-winning photographer and director based in Los Angeles; Wolov is a self-taught photographer with a background in [feminist, modern] art history and studio art; Zauscher is an award-winning commercial and editorial photographer based in San Diego and Los Angeles. The presentation takes place from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm, via Zoom.

U.S. Supreme Court Tuesday October 11, 2022
