Stock Photo Secrets   Friday October 21, 2022

Unsplash, the popular free stock photo site recently acquired by Getty Images, is rolling out Unsplash+, a new premium and subscription-based service. The new service gives subscribers access to “curated content” available for commercial licenses with extra legal protection and unlimited downloads, notes DIY Photography. What We Learned This Week: Stock Photos of Sleeping Babies Often Show Unsafe Spaces

Spotlight: Abelardo Morell, Van Gogh, and the Camera Obscura

Acclaimed photographer Abelardo Morell traveled to Arles, France, to follow in the footsteps of Vincent Van Gogh, artistically. That’s a daunting undertaking, notes The Washington Post, but Morell had a secret (if ancient) weapon—a camera obscura of his own design, consisting of a periscope, a digital camera, a laptop computer and a large piece of black fabric. “Clearly, I did not produce any new 'van Goghs,' which is a good thing because I didn’t want to make copies!” notes Morell at his website.   Read the full Story >>
