Ron Galella, the freelance photographer who relentlessly pursued Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis until a judge barred him from taking her picture, who pestered Marlon Brando until Brando broke his jaw, and who helped define the modern culture of celebrity, died on April 30 at his home in Montville, N.J., reports The New York Times. He was 91. Galella was called a creep, a stalker and worse when he began shooting pictures of celebrities in the 1960s, before mass circulation magazines like People and Us made the presence of paparazzi like him ubiquitous, notes The Times. Each image in photographer Mark Peterman’s series “Constructed Realities” takes place in a fictional world that was created in miniature, and, notes Feature Shoot, each tells a tale of suspense conceived in the artist’s imagination. “I have often said that the scenes are before or after something has happened,” the photographer says of the work, which was inspired by mystery novels and ambient music. “I usually write a snippet of a short story; that can be one sentence or a more elaborate bit of micro fiction,” adds Peterman.
