There’s some good news for wedding photographers and others in the wedding business: After two years of pandemic losses, the industry is on the upswing. According to research firm IbisWorld, the U.S. wedding business is expected to total some $57.9 billion this year, up 2.1 percent from last year, but still well behind the heady, pre-pandemic volume of just over $70 billion. But consumer interests are rapidly changing, notes Inc. Fewer young people are prioritizing matrimony, the 2022 demand spike notwithstanding. Photography collective Gorsad has spent years documenting the youth of Kyiv. As the war wages on in in Ukraine , the collective has been sharing images of what life was like in the city, notes DAZED. Gorsad consists of artists Viktor Vasiliev, Maria Romaniuk and Ulik Romaniuk, all of whom are still in Ukraine. “Kyiv is for us, in all senses, a place of inspiration, power and freedom,” Vasiliev tells Dazed. “All young people here are eager to progress, learn and create meaningful art. Film is back: Japan Camera Hunter has announced the development of FuguFilm 400, a 400 ISO positive film emulsion set to arrive later in 2022. JCH claims it is the first completely new reversal film emulsion in nearly two decades, notes PetaPixel. Bellamy Hunt, one of the film’s co-developers, says the timing of the news felt “auspicious,” with the recent releases of Kodak Gold 200 and CineStill 400 Dynamic films.
