The recently publication of photojournalist Lynsey Addario’s image of a slain family in Ukraine caused freelance photojournalist Jon Allsop to consider the similarities and dissimilarities between coverage of war and the pandemic. “The news cycle in the runup to Putin’s invasion carried echoes (at least to my ear) of the contrasting assessments of urgency and risk that we heard as COVID started to accelerate around the world,” he writes. Stone Mountain, Georgia’s most-visited tourist attraction, is the site of the largest high-relief sculpture on the planet—a carving that is also the United States’ largest Confederate monument. Its history is entwined with the rebirth of the Ku Klux Clan, and in recent years, it’s been a rallying point for white supremacists groups. Photographer Kris Graves’s photograph of the monument is featured in "Pained Vistas," an exhibition view at Photographic Center Northwest (PCNW) through March 17th, notes Feature Shoot. Nikon’s new $14,000 400mm f/2.8 TC VR S lens for mirrorless cameras has been getting terrific reviews, but Nikon warns that you should not use it if you have a pacemaker or any other kind of medical device. PetaPixel notes that the official reference manual for the lens contains this warning: “Do not use this product if you have a pacemaker or other medical device.
