Rangefinder has announced its 30 Rising Stars of Wedding Photography for 2021—the tenth-annual edition of the competition. This list includes photographers from Vietnam, Ireland, Malaysia, Finland and New Zealand, as well as Michigan, California, North Carolina, Arkansas, New York and other states. Rangefinder invites photo industry leaders—including editors, photographers, wedding planners and vendors—to nominate photographers. Among the winners: Scotland’s Bernadeta Kupiec. Fotografiska is in expansion mode, with plans to add three new spaces to its empire of photography museums by 2023, notes Art News. The commercial museum said on Friday that it plans to open locations in Berlin, Miami, and Shanghai over the next couple years. The Berlin and Shanghai museums are set to open in the third quarter of 2022, while the Miami location is expected to open in the second quarter of 2023. A San Francisco Chronicle photographer was robbed at gunpoint on Friday while on assignment in West Oakland, the newspaper reports. The incident follows a fatal shooting of a security guard who was protecting a local news crew, also in Oakland, notes PetaPixel. The robbery took place just before 3:30 p.m. on Friday. What are described as “multiple” suspects stopped the photographer, held up the photographer at gunpoint, stole his two cameras, and fled in a vehicle. “Any incident in which a person is robbed of their possessions at gunpoint is incredibly troubling,” noted San Francisco Chronicle’s Editor in Chief Emilio Garcia-Ruiz.
