Photography Coast to Coast
Amid visions of global migration, corporate power trips, portraits, camera-less photographs and the influence of Andy Warhol on image makers today, looking at the land and the ways in which people have altered it continues to fascinate. In at least 20 exhibitions, an incredible variety of approaches can be seen in the galleries this month, from the huge, digitally constructed panoramics of Scott McFarland at the Museum of Modern Art to Richard Misrach's God's-eye view of beaches at The Art Institute of Chicago, to Oliver Boberg's studies of walls at Quality Pictures. The November edition begins with Olivo Barbieri's deliciously synthetic scenes of man-made Las Vegas landscapes. As you make your way from place to place, please check the links for details.
