Summer Group Shows, Part III
Road trips are the stuff of summer, and have been an inspiration for countless photographers since Walker Evans roamed the South in the 1930s. In the 1970s, Stephen Shore criss-crossed the continent, redefining American culture through his camera's lens. His work from these journeys can be seen in a major retrospective at the International Center of Photography, and is included in a group show at Yancey Richardson Gallery: Easy Rider: Road Trips Through America, featuring photographs and videos dating from 1935 to 2006. Photographs below, left to right: William Lamson, America and Me; Mitch Epstein, Cocoa Beach; Tim Davis, Stretched America.
This issue of DART presents an omnivore's omnibus - summer group photography shows, coast to coast, celebrating diverse themes in a variety of media. Please check links for details.
